So the trial of my ex-CEO (Charles “Junior” Johnson of PurchasePro.com fame) started this week and I’ve yet to be subpoenaed for it. My favorite FBI agent did leave me a couple of voice mails though, which means they haven’t quite forgotten about me yet. I’ll be about as touched as a Congressional Page should they decide to include me in the festivities though…or maybe not. Here’s a good background on the trial:

Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Article

Unfortunately for me, I was heavily involved in this story. In fact, every time they reference “e-mail” within any of these stories, I am somehow connected whether I like it or not. Did I mention that all of this happened over five (5!!!!) years ago? Did I mention that I’ve been to the Federal Courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia more times than I care to count in the span of these five years? Did I mention that I don’t really like testifying in front of anything, let alone a Federal Grand Jury? How about I just give you my version (what I can remember of it anyway) of what happened.

Back in 2001, PurchasePro.com was floundering. I had joined the company in 2000, hoping to become a newly minted dot com millionaire based on the stock options the company was giving out like so much candy on Halloween. Unfortunately for me, those options would never quite materialize. While the company was flying high when I joined, things went downhill rather quickly. Fast forward about a year and a half and I’m being directed to open one of the company officer’s e-mail box and delete some things. Bad sign. Very, very bad sign.

It is most definitely a boy!

Since it is Friday the 13th, maybe we should name him Jason?

All kidding aside, that’s what Lindsey wants as his middle name. Kinda creepy, huh?

The Padres lost their bats on the way to the NLDS and couldn’t find the magic dust they used to torch Chris Carpenter towards the end of the season. Such are the joys of a Padres fan. I keep hearing the talk of the Padres actually having money to spend this offseason, but I’ve been to that dance before and I didn’t like how it turned out. I think I’ll believe it when I see it.
